Forest areas map

If you plan to purchase a tree cutting permit either online or in person, you should first decide where in Alberta you'd like to cut a Christmas tree, cut firewood or transplant a tree.

Below are maps and conditions for the various Forest Areas in Alberta where the TM66 tree cutting permit applies. There are no locations for cutting with a TM66 permit outside of the 10 Forest Areas.

Things to remember about these maps and conditions

  • Be sure to review the conditions for the area you plan to visit. Different regions may have conditions unique to that region, and different areas within a region may carry area-specific requirements.
  • Not all regions have online maps to all the places where the tree cutting permit applies. Availability of online maps will be indicated below. In such cases where a map is not available for a particular area, contact the local Forest Area Office for permit activity locations.

Castle Provincial Park or Castle Wildland Provincial Park

If you are interested in a tree cutting permit for the Castle Provincial Park or the Castle Wildland Provincial Park, these permits must be issued by Ministry of Environment and Parks staff. TM66s and Castle permits can be obtained at the following offices, or contact your local Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry office for further information.
