Overview
Curriculum and Career Education Division / Learning and Teaching Resources Sector / Resource Strategy and Management Branch
The Resource Strategy and Management Branch leads the work to provide strategy for learning and teaching resources, which includes:
- strategic planning
- teaching and learning resource initiatives
- coordination and development of sector-level processes
- best practices to support all aspects of learning and teaching resources
The branch is responsible for the sector's continuous improvement model for the learning and teaching resource collection and leads and coordinates complex projects involving collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Role
The Learning and Teaching Resources Sector is seeking a highly motivated Resource Management Analyst.
In this challenging and rewarding position, you will:
- report to the Manager of Resource Management
- establish keywords and other metadata standards to apply to learning and teaching resource content in New Learn Alberta – Explore Learning
- research and recommend best practices for curating and tagging collections for improved user experience
- work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
- work in close collaboration with other units in the Learning and Teaching Resources Sector to ensure learning and teaching resources follow the authorization process
- support communications with external stakeholders
This opportunity is ideal for a professional with:
- an interest in library and information management
- experience in learning management, content management systems or other technology in education training
The term of this role will be from approximately September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2028.
The service days per your collective agreement will be honoured, but there is no guarantee of alignment with your school authority’s natural breaks.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- recommending and implementing enhancements to learning and teaching resource content in Explore Learning, with a focus on end user experience
- developing a governance manual for “Explore Resources” on New Learn Alberta that captures our data standards and dates when content changes have been made
- recommending metadata requirements and authority files that can be used for tagging learning and teaching resource content for improving searchability and retrieval of resources on New Learn Alberta platform
- researching and recommending best practices for curating content in “Explore Resources” in preparation for machine learning or artificial intelligence enhancements to the platform
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- a bachelor’s or master’s degree in education
- a valid permanent Alberta Teaching Certificate or equivalent plus teaching experience at the school, jurisdictional, and/or provincial level
- strong communication skills (written and verbal) with tact and diplomacy
- high quality ethics
- project management and organizational skills
- the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment
- a high level of comfort working in a digital environment
Assets
Preference will be given to applicants who have:
- experience or training in Library and Information Studies
- a Technology in Education graduate certificate or related experience
- experience with content management or end user experiences in learning management systems (LMS)
