Curriculum and Career Education Division / Learning and Teaching Resources Sector / Resource Development, Review and Authorization Branch
The Resource Development, Review and Authorization Branch is responsible for the development, review and authorization of learning and teaching resources to support the piloting and implementation of Alberta Education’s Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K-12) provincial curriculum, in English and French.
Role
The Learning and Teaching Resources Sector is seeking a highly motivated Resource Development Consultant.
In this challenging and rewarding position, you will:
- report to the Manager of Resource Development
- work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
- work in close collaboration with other units in the Learning and Teaching Resources Sector and other sectors
- identify and synthesize information from a variety of sources to inform the development of learning and teaching resources that support the field testing, piloting, and implementation of K-12 curriculum

The service days per your collective agreement will be honoured, but there is no guarantee of alignment with your school authority’s natural breaks.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- analyzing and identifying needs within a provincial collection of learning and teaching resources
- providing advice and input on the development of learning and teaching resources in French and English, in accordance with current policies and legislation
- establishing and maintaining strong communication and working relationships to ensure timely deliverables, feedback, and identification of issues
- providing learning and teaching resource information to teachers, school administrators, school district administrators, and/or other stakeholders as requested
- supporting the ongoing maintenance of the provincially managed English and French teaching and learning resource collections
- contributing to effective branch operations by participating in meetings and presentations and contributing to additional projects
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- a university degree in Education
- a valid permanent Alberta Teaching Certificate or equivalent
- a minimum 5 years’ teaching experience
- high quality ethics
- fluency in English and French (written and spoken)
- a high level of comfort working in a digital environment
- an understanding of research on the principles of 21st century learning and the implications for learning and teaching resource development
- an understanding of policies, guidelines, and legislation such as the Education Act, the Provincial Resource Review Guide, and The Guiding Framework for the Design and Development of Kindergarten to Grade 12 Curriculum
