Description: Alberta Emergency Alert - Wildfire Alert Updated
UPDATE of May 10 – The area of Fort McMurray, Anzac, & Fort McMurray First Nation continue to be under mandatory evacuation orders, and only authorized workers are permitted in these areas. Workers in these areas should not drink the water from the city system and communities receiving their water from Ft. McMurray should boil the water prior to drinking.
The Fort McMurray Airport is operational but continues to be used for Wildfire Aircraft operations only. Authorized workers who are allowed to be in the evacuated areas are; emergency personnel working on fire suppression, policing, and authorized infrastructure responders. Action to take:
- The public is not to be in the areas which have mandatory evacuation orders in place, and if they are in any of these areas they must leave immediately
- Do not drink the water from the Ft
- McMurray water system unless it can be safely boiled first
- Follow the directions of local authorities
