Overview

Highway 20 is a 2-lane undivided highway between Sylvan Lake and Bentley. The highway is considered a main route for goods, tourism and local traffic, and it serves other recreational destinations north of Sylvan Lake.

The functional planning study will develop a long-term plan for Highway 20 to become a 4-lane divided highway between Highway 11 and Highway 12. The objective of this study is to confirm the right-of-way needs to twin the highway and identify associated access management, with operational and intersection improvements.

The feasibility of implementing an all-roundabout corridor through the Town of Sylvan Lake, between Highway 11 and Highway 11A, will also be reviewed as part of this study. Construction for the twinning of Highway 20 between Highway 11 and Highway 12 is not on the provincial construction program and timelines have not yet been determined.

See the Highway 20 Functional Planning Study map.
