Overview
Public sector bodies, also referred to as public agencies, are required to post online the names and compensation paid to:
- all members, regardless of amount
- employees who earn over a threshold amount (see Public sector body compensation disclosure)
This is a requirement under the Public Sector Compensation Transparency Act, General Regulation and Dissolved Public Sector Bodies Regulation, which apply to:
- agencies, boards and commissions listed on this page (which are governed by the Alberta Public Agencies Governance Act) and any subsidiary, except those entities exempt by regulation
- independent offices of the Legislature
- employees of Covenant Health
- other entities identified in the regulations
Disclosure process and consolidated database
Public sector bodies are required to disclose the compensation and severance paid to eligible employees and board members twice per year, as follows:
- June 30 – compensation and severance from January 1 to December 31 of the previous calendar year
- December 31 – severance from January 1 to June 30 of the current calendar year
- Public agencies are required to publish information on their own web pages. Agencies without their own web pages must publish the information on this page.
- If the public agency does not have appointments, or is inoperative, that is disclosed with a compensation nil report for the applicable calendar year.
