Proclamations

Overview

Bills become law when they have received Royal Assent. To learn more about the process, see how the Alberta government works.

If an act or portion of an act comes into force on proclamation, the Lieutenant Governor makes an order to proclaim, which is posted in Orders in Council. After proclamations are signed as an Order in Council, they are published in Part 1 of The Alberta Gazette.

• Energy and Utilities Statutes Amendment Act, 2025 (SA 2025 c8). Section 1(2)(i), (10), (23) and (24) proclaimed in force on February 6, 2026. Amends the Electric Utilities Act (SA 2003 cE-5.1).
• Financial Statutes Amendment Act, 2025 (SA 2025 c9). Section 6 proclaimed in force on July 2, 2026. Amends the Income and Employment Supports Act (SA 2003 cI-0.5).
• Financial Statutes Amendment Act, 2025 (No. 2) (SA 2025 c20). Sections 1 and 12 proclaimed in force on April 1, 2026. Amends the Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act (SA 2008 cA-4.2) and the Public Trustee Act (SA 2004 cP-44.1).
