Overview
The amusement rides discipline is responsible for establishing and interpreting the codes, standards and respective regulations under the Safety Codes Act.
We work with the Safety Codes Council and the Alberta Elevating Devices and Amusement Ride Safety Association to develop and provide information to the amusement rides industry.
Codes and standards
The current code for amusement rides is ASTM F2783-14 Amusement Rides. It was declared in force on January 1, 2017, and covers standard practice for design, manufacture, operation, maintenance and inspection of amusement rides and devices in Canada.
Prior to this, the CAN/CSA Standard Z267-00, Safety Code for Amusement Rides and Devices including Appendix C (Non-destructive Testing) was in force.
