Difficulty uploading documents
If you experience difficulty uploading documents to RIO, the Child Support Recalculation Program is aware of this issue and has reported it to the Government of Alberta technical team responsible for RIO. The technical team continues to search for a solution to resolve the issue.
System updates to the computer database that the RIO system is part of occur after 8 pm each weeknight. You may have difficulties uploading documents after 8 pm. We encourage you to try to upload earlier in the day or on weekends.
Contact program staff
If you use MEP Accounts Online
You do not need to contact us to obtain a one-time registration ID number. Simply log in to RIO with the email and password you use for MEP Accounts Online.
If you do not use MEP Accounts Online
Contact us after you have registered with the Child Support Recalculation Program and received your acceptance letter.
Have your 6-digit file number (for example, RP123456) ready to obtain a one-time registration ID number for RIO.

With your registration ID number, you can use RIO for the first time and to set up your new password.
Do not share your password with anyone.
Log in for the first time
Step 1. RIO page
- Go to the Recalculation Info Online (RIO) page.
- At the top of the page, see if there are any current system updates. (When these updates are being made you cannot access the system.)
- In the middle of the page, click the Recalculation Info Online button.
After you do this, the RIO Login screen will appear.
Step 2. RIO Login screen
Click on the Logging in for the First Time link.
After you do this, the Register New User screen will appear.
Step 3. Register New User screen
If you use MEP Accounts Online, you can log in to RIO with the same email and password that you use for MEP Accounts Online.
If you do not use MEP Accounts Online, follow the instructions below.
- Enter your:
- file number
- registration ID number
- email address
- unique password
- 5 password recovery questions
- Click the Save button.
After you do this, the RIO Login screen will appear.
Step 4. RIO Login screen
- Enter your:
- email address
- unique password
- Click the Login button.
After you do this, your program file will appear in the Update Personal Information screen.
