    Safer Spaces Certificates to End Tenancy 

    Tenants can end their tenancy agreement without financial penalty by getting a certificate confirming they are victims of domestic violence.  Apply for a certificate online at alberta.ca/SaferSpaces.

    Kids Help Phone - Youth Counselling Line 

    Free, anonymous, confidential telephone crisis support and counselling for youth in Canada. Crisis support is also available via text or online chat.

    Victim Services 

    Victim services help people understand their rights, navigate and participate in the justice system, access supports and programs and cope with the immediate emotional impacts of crime.

  • Human trafficking

    Canada's National Human Trafficking Hotline 

    The Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline is a confidential, multilingual service operating 24/7 to connect victims and survivors with social services, law enforcement, and emergency services. They also receive tips from the public about suspected cases of human trafficking. 

    The AC leads a coordinated effort to disrupt trafficking, support survivors and prevent future exploitation through prevention, protection, prosecution, partnership and empowerment. It focuses on raising awareness, strengthening community responses and harmonizing policy. It works in collaboration with front-line organizations, law enforcement, government and businesses to end human trafficking. 

    ACT is a non-profit agency providing front-line services to victims and survivors of primarily labour trafficking. Their services and supports include crisis stabilization and case management to both internationally and domestically trafficked persons, either recruited to Alberta or having experienced exploitation/trafficking in Alberta. 

  • Indigenous supports

    The First Nation and Inuit Hope for Wellness Help Line 

    Counseling is available in English and French, and upon request in Cree, Ojibway and Inuktitut. 

    Native Counselling Services of Alberta

    If you need help with court processes, children’s services, or connecting to youth supports and other community resources. 

    Alberta Native Friendship Centres Association 

    Provides connection to local community-based friendship centres that provide services and referrals. 

    Métis and Indigenous Children’s Services Offices 

    Find an office that specializes in services for Métis and Indigenous children, youth and families. 

    Delegated First Nations Agencies 

    Child intervention services for First Nation communities. 

    The Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Women 

    Supports Indigenous women and their families and communities through advocacy, policy and program delivery. 

    The Edmonton 2 Spirit Society

    Provides programs, services and support to Two Spirit and LGBTQQIA+ Indigenous people. 

    Aboriginal Alert

    Shares information about missing Indigenous people in Canada on its site and on Facebook and Twitter. 

    The Family Information Liaison Unit provides a single, culturally safe point of contact to help families of missing or murdered Indigenous people access information, navigate the justice system, and connect with counselling and supports. 

  • Health supports

    Protection for Persons in Care

    Protection for Persons in Care Reporting Call to report the abuse of an adult receiving care or support services from public funded service providers such as hospitals, seniors’ lodges, nursing homes, mental health facilities, shelters, group homes, addictions treatment centres or other supportive living settings. 

    Alberta Health Link 

    Free health-related advice and general health information provided by a nurse.

    Mental Health Helpline 

    Offers help for Albertans experiencing mental health concerns. 

    24-Hour Distress Line 

    Confidential, non-judgmental and short-term crisis intervention, emotional support and resources to people experiencing mental health crisis or distress, including support to family, friends and caregivers of people in crisis. 

    Addiction Helpline 

    A confidential service which provides addiction and mental health support, information and referral to services. 

  • LGBTQ2S+ supports

    Pride Centre of Edmonton

    The Pride Centre of Edmonton provides a non-judgmental, welcoming space where people of all attractions, identities, and expressions can be themselves, find support, meet new people, and be part of a caring community. The Centre offers resources, counselling, and sensitive and expert information and referrals for those seeking support.

    Centre for Sexuality

    The Centre for Sexuality normalizes sexuality and sexual health in Alberta and across Canada by providing evidence-informed, non-judgmental sexual health programs and services. Their work is community-based, prevention-focused, and nationally recognized.

    Calgary Outlink: Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity

    Calgary Outlink is a community-based, not-for-profit charity dedicated to providing support, education, outreach, and referrals for the 2SLGBTQIA+ and allied communities in Calgary, Alberta.

    Brite Line

    Brite Line is Edmonton’s first mental health and wellness helpline dedicated to supporting people in Edmonton’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Created by members of the community for the community, Brite Line is a safe place to call to connect with hope, courage, support, understanding and the freedom to be who you are.
