Helping adults with disabilities access specialized services in their communities.

Overview

Community agencies help adults with disabilities to access services they may not be able to qualify for or get through other means.

Cross-Disability Support Services (CDSS)

CDSS provides navigation and support for Albertans with a wide range of disabilities.

You may be eligible to receive CDSS supports if you are:

CDSS community agencies can help you connect with supports and services such as:

  • independent living skills training and/or mentoring
  • volunteer opportunities and recreational supports
  • community services

Cross-Disability Support Services – Sensory (CDSS-Sensory)

CDSS-Sensory supports individuals with sensory disabilities, such as hearing or vision loss, by helping them access specialized services.

You may be eligible to receive CDSS-Sensory supports if you are:

  • living with a sensory disability
  • not currently receiving sensory supports through other similar programs

CDSS-Sensory community agencies can help you connect with sensory supports and services such as:

  • adaptive equipment
  • interpreter and intervener services
  • community living and skill-building supports

Service Areas

Both CDSS and CDSS-Sensory community agencies deliver services in the following regions:

  • Northwest: High Level, Peace River, Grande Prairie, Slave Lake, Grande Cache, Whitecourt and surrounding areas
  • Northeast: Fort McMurray, Athabasca, Lac La Biche, Cold Lake, Bonnyville, St. Paul and surrounding areas
  • Edmonton: Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Leduc, Fort Saskatchewan, Morinville and surrounding areas
  • Central: Red Deer, Rocky Mountain House, Wetaskiwin, Camrose, Stettler, Olds and surrounding areas
  • Calgary: Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere, High River, Claresholm and surrounding areas
  • South: Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Brooks, Pincher Creek, Taber, Blairmore and surrounding areas
