Overview
As part of the Emergency Family Violence Services program, the Regional Collaboration and Innovation Grant supports organizations working together to strengthen services for individuals and families experiencing family violence in Alberta. Through one-time project funding, the grant encourages regional partnerships, innovative approaches to service delivery and coordinated solutions that respond to local needs and priorities.
Funding
The Regional Collaboration and Innovation Grant (RCIG) provides one-time funding for collaborative projects delivered over a 2-year period from 2027-29. Funding is intended to help organizations develop and implement regional initiatives that strengthen emergency family violence services through collaboration, innovation and capacity building.
Successful applicants may request between $100,000 and $500,000 per project. Funding must be used for approved project activities and expenses that directly support project objectives and outcomes.
Funding is not intended to support ongoing operational costs, capital projects or activities already funded through other government programs.
Eligibility
The Regional Collaboration and Innovation Grant is open to organizations that support individuals and families experiencing family violence.
How to apply
Step 1. Read the guidelines and application form
Step 2. Complete the application package
Agencies can begin applying for the Regional Collaboration and Innovation Grant in September and are encouraged to prepare by exploring the application process to inform and strengthen their application(s). The deadline for applications is October 15, 2026, at 5 pm (ABT).
Include the following documents in the application package:
- Application form
- Letters of Commitment
- Any additional documentation as outlined in the application
- Proof of insurance
- WCB coverage or exemption letter
- Current Alberta Corporate Registry search, Certificate of Status or equivalent (if applicable)
Step 3. Submit the application package
The submission and relevant attachments should be sent in one email. The subject line of the email should be 2027-29 RCI Grant Call – [Applicant Name]. The completed application form is due by 5 pm on October 15, 2026. Applications must be submitted electronically to [email protected]. Incomplete or late submissions will not be accepted.
After you apply
During the review process, applicants may be contacted for supplementary information by ministry staff.
Applicants will be notified of funding decisions in writing via email. If application contact information changes, notify [email protected].
Reporting
Successful applicants must submit reporting for the grant term:
- biannual financial reports
- biannual interim reports
- final financial report
- final progress report
Additional reporting requirements may be outlined in the grant agreement.
