Overview

The Emergency Family Violence Services (EFVS) Program supports a coordinated provincial response to family violence by funding and strengthening a network of services that help Albertans access safety, shelter, support and recovery. The program drives how services are planned, funded and supported across the province.

Emergency Family Violence Services Grant Program

The EFVS Grant Program provides operational funding to eligible agencies to deliver core emergency family violence services. The EFVS grant program replaces the former Women’s Shelter Program and reflects the broader range of services that help people access safety, support and recovery, both within and beyond shelter settings. This grant supports ongoing service delivery and may include funding for new or expanded capacity.

Regional Collaboration and Innovation Grant

The Regional Collaboration and Innovation Grant provides one-time funding for collaborative projects delivered over a 2-year period from 2026 to 2028. This grant is intended to support regional partnerships, service coordination and innovative approaches that strengthen the family violence response.

Facility Grant Pilot Program

The Facility Grant Pilot Program provides capital funding to EFVS-funded agencies for shelter renewal and maintenance. This grant is intended to help agencies maintain safe, functional spaces for people accessing emergency family violence services.
