This funding is provided to a wide-range of organizations to deliver physical activity and recreation opportunities to Albertans.

This grant program is currently not accepting new applicants.

The Physical Activity and Recreation operating grant program is a closed program. The program offers operating grants to eligible physical activity and recreation sector organizations.

These grants are essential to the Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation (SPAR) branch’s goal of making Albertans more active, more often, through recreation and physical activity.

There are 3 operating grant streams.

  1. Engagement Operating grant (EO)
  2. Activity Specific Recreational Organizations Operating grant (ASRO)
  3. Leadership and Certification Operating grant (LCO)
