The standard

The Alberta government worked with 7 regulatory organizations to develop a standard for professional sign off. The standard can be viewed at: Joint Practice Standard (PDF, 438 KB).

You must get professional sign off on remediation and reclamation work completed after January 1, 2008.

Use the following form: Professional Declaration for Reclamation Certificate Applications Form (PDF, 517 KB).

When to get sign off

The form must be signed once the following have been completed:

  • Phase 1 environmental site assessments
  • compliance option checklists for drilling waste disposal
  • Phase 2 environmental site assessments
  • remediation and confirmatory sampling
  • reclamation detailed site assessments

Requirements

Who can sign off

Professionals must meet standards to qualify to sign off on remediation and reclamation work.

  • stamp/seal

Sign off Advisory Committee

The Remediation and Reclamation Sign off Advisory Committee developed the requirements for professional sign off. The committee included representatives from:

  • Alberta Environment and Protected Areas
  • Alberta Human Resources and Employment
  • Alberta Institute of Agrologists
  • Alberta Society of Professional Biologists
  • Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta
  • Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta
  • Association of the Chemical Profession of Alberta
  • College of Alberta Professional Foresters
  • College of Alberta Professional Forest Technologists
