Overview

Land conservation and reclamation guidelines and practices have evolved in Alberta. Currently, they outline a range of regulatory directions, including:

  • guiding principles for conservation and reclamation of specified lands
  • specific factors affecting planning and field operations of conservation and reclamation projects
  • guidance for managing challenging situations caused by adverse weather conditions, third-party impact or weed problems

The Alberta government uses several formats for the guidelines:

  • conservation and reclamation letter (C&R IL)
  • industry directive (ID)
  • remediation and reclamation fact sheet (R&R)
  • fully developed guideline publications
