On Aug. 3, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate a July 1 arrest by the Fort McMurray Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

On Aug. 5, at approximately 10 p.m., Calgary Police Service responded to a report of a suicidal male in the 1500 block of 35 Street SE. When officers attended, they located a male carrying two edged weapons in his hands.

On Aug. 2, at approximately 3:56 a.m., the Calgary Police Service was called to a report of a break-in and structure fire at the Calgary Municipal Building. When officers attended, they found parts of the building on fire and located an adult male in possession of a long-edged weapon.

On July 24, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred earlier that day.

On July 17, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred earlier that day in Calgary.
- June 29, 2022
On Oct. 22, 2018, ASIRT was directed to investigate an officer-involved shooting involving an officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police that occurred in Maskwacis earlier that day. One officer discharged his service weapon and two males were shot. ASIRT’s investigation is now complete.

On Aug. 8, 2018, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the hospitalization of a man after being in the custody of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police at the High Prairie Detachment.

On July 19, 2018, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was shot during an interaction with officers from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police that same day.

On Oct. 23, 2019, pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Yukon, the Government of Alberta and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man, hereinafter referred to as the affected person (AP).

On March 25, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the death of a 55-year-old man earlier that day.

On March 20, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Calgary Police Service (CPS) received a complaint of an intoxicated man yelling, banging on doors, and trying to get into a house in Sandstone. Officers arrived a short time later and located the man, who then ran away.

On March 13, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the death of a 39-year-old man earlier that day.

On Mar. 9, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the injury of a 22-year-old man on Kehewin First Nation earlier that day.

On Apr. 19, 2018, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting with no injuries involving members of the Okotoks detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

On Feb. 25, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the injury of a 47-year-old man in Picture Butte the previous day.

On Feb. 23, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the deaths of a 36-year-old man and a 59-year-old man earlier that day.

On Feb. 19, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the death of a 41-year-old man after an encounter with Calgary Police Service (CPS) officers earlier that day.

On Nov. 22, 2019, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the injury of a 20-year-old male while in Edmonton Police Service (EPS) custody.

On Feb. 11, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the injury of a 26-year-old man during an encounter with Edmonton Police Service (EPS) officers the previous evening.

On Feb. 10, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer’s discharge of his firearm during an encounter with a 39-year-old man that day.

On Jan. 10, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the death of a 25-year-old man that had occurred earlier that day when the man was in the custody of the St. Paul RCMP.

On Dec. 13, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate a Dec. 12 incident where a 22-year-old man was taken to hospital after being arrested and placed in police custody.

On Aug. 9, 2019, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the circumstances surrounding an alleged sexual assault involving an Edmonton Police Service (EPS) officer.

On July 4, 2019, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the detention in the Calgary Police Service (CPS) Arrest Processing Section (APS) of a 44-year-old man.

On Jan. 7, 2019, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was directed to investigate the circumstances surrounding injuries suffered by a 53-year-old man while being detained in the Calgary Police Service (CPS) Arrest Processing Section (APS) on Dec. 7, 2018.

Timing
ASIRT issues a news release and, in time-sensitive situations, a tweet:
- after the province’s director of law enforcement assigns ASIRT a file
- at the conclusion of an ASIRT investigation
Exceptions
ASIRT’s executive director chooses when to issue news releases or tweets for investigations into Alberta police officers whose conduct:
- may have caused serious injuries
- may have caused death
- has led to sexual assault allegations
Balancing transparency
When ASIRT issues a news release or tweet, the team strives to:
- disclose as much information as possible to the public
- protect the confidentiality of witnesses
- guard the privacy rights of those involved
- maintain the integrity of investigations
Revealing names
In its news releases and tweets, ASIRT does not usually include the names of people who have:
- died
- been seriously injured
Exceptions
ASIRT may reveal a person's identity in a news release or tweet based on:
- the circumstances surrounding the incident
- a combination of other factors, such as the:
- requirements of an investigation
- person's position on their name being released
- family's position on the name of their deceased relative being released
- person's age
- person's name already being in the public domain
- stage of an investigation
- limitations imposed by law – Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Youth Criminal Justice Act, etc.
