As of January 1, 2008, upstream oil and gas remediation and reclamation require involvement and sign-off from a qualified professional.
The Alberta government worked with 7 regulatory organizations to develop a standard for professional sign off. The standard can be viewed at: Joint Practice Standard (PDF, 536 KB).
You must get professional sign off on remediation and reclamation work completed after January 1, 2008.
