IRP Online System
The International Registration Plan (IRP) Online System (ATIOS) is used to maintain and verify vehicle, fleet and carrier information, as well as receive and track applications from Alberta carriers.
Using ATIOS, a carrier or service provider can complete and submit the following:
- fleet renewal
- add or delete vehicle from fleet
- transfer vehicle
- amend vehicle information
- change fleet details
- replace licence plate
- replace cab card

Service processing times
The following submissions are automatically invoiced and displayed as a PDF in ATIOS for you to print and take to a Registry Agent office for processing:
- delete vehicle
- replace plate
- document replacement (registration and cab card)
Regular supplements may take up to 7 business days.
Renewals for the current month are prioritized and processed first. For this reason, renewals may take longer than 7 business days. Please submit at least 2 weeks prior to your expiry date to ensure that your renewal is processed in time.
New fleet applications that are complete, with all required documentation may take up to 14 business days. However, depending on the complexity of a particular fleet, processing may take longer.
Incomplete applications will not be processed. You will be notified by return email that your application has been rejected and will need to be resubmitted with all forms completed and supporting documents included. Your resubmitted application will then go to the back of the service queue.

Fees
Fees are calculated annually using the percentage of total distance travelled within each jurisdiction. Fees cannot be paid quarterly, and are based on the number of months remaining in the registration year.
Registration expiration dates are staggered.

The IRP website offers a fee estimator that provides a benchmark/estimate of costs to register a vehicle with prorate.
Electronic cab cards
Commercial carriers can choose to carry their IRP cab cards and International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) licences in paper or electronic format. The use of electronic images of IRP cab cards and IFTA licences is accepted by all jurisdictions in the United States and Canada.
Electronic documentation should be saved as a file, such as PDF, that can be accessed by a computer, tablet, smartphone or other electronic device.
