Training agreements
A training agreement is a contractual arrangement between an applicant (trainee) seeking to become an interim land agent and a trainer who is either an individual or corporation providing training to an interim land agent.
The trainer and the trainee, before a witness, sign the training agreement. In the case of a corporation, a company representative may sign a training agreement. If the company representative signing the agreement is not a permanent land agent, ensure you identify a supervising land agent as the “trainer’s authorized representative” in the agreement.
The supervising land agent(s) of the trainee interim land agent must be a licensed permanent land agent who has held a licence for at least 3 consecutive years immediately preceding entering into the training agreement.
A training agreement expires on the expiry date of the trainee’s interim land agent licence unless renewed or entering into a new training agreement.
- Use our fillable Interim Land Agent Training Agreement form or create your own.
Switching trainers or no trainer
- Your interim licence includes an active training agreement, and you will need a new training agreement if you switch trainers. You may only have one training agreement in effect at any time.
- You must file a copy of the new training agreement with the Registrar of Land Agents.
- If not previously completed, you will also need to terminate your existing training agreement.
- Either party may terminate the training agreement by serving a Notice of Termination of Training Agreement on the other party.
- Within 7 days of the Notice of Termination being served on the other party, a copy must be filed with the Registrar of Land Agents.
- Within 14 days of termination, a Performance Evaluation must be completed by the last trainer and filed with the Registrar of Land Agents.
