How to get an integrated card
You will receive an integrated health card when you renew or obtain your first Alberta driver’s licence or ID card
Integrated cards are issued at an Alberta Registry Agent office, find one closest to you.
At the Registry Agent office:
- your identity will be verified
- your AHCIP account will be reviewed and revalidated
- you must bring valid and original supporting documentation with you to a Registry Agent. If you do not bring the right documentation, you will be asked to come back another time. The following documentation is required:
- valid photo identification (such as a driver’s licence or ID card)
- proof of legal entitlement in Canada (such as a Canadian passport or birth certificate)
- your current health card (paper health card and/or mobile health card)
Your existing paper health card must be surrendered at the end of the driver’s licence or ID card service. You cannot have more than one physical health card at the same time.
Integrated cards are mailed to your address on file. It is important that it is up to date. The interim driver’s licence or ID card receipt given to you at the Registry Agent has your personal health number on it. It can be used as a certificate of registration for AHCIP while you wait for your card to arrive.
AHCIP expiry date
If you have an integrated card, your AHCIP expiry date will match your driver’s licence or ID card expiry date.
When you renew a driver’s licence or ID card that has a personal health number on it, you will also need to revalidate your AHCIP account information. This must be done before the expiry date on the driver’s licence or ID card to ensure your AHCIP coverage continues without interruption.
