Overview
The Inclusive Child Care Program helps licensed childcare programs and educators build their capacity and confidence to care for children with extra support needs. The program aims to increase families’ access to inclusive childcare and prevent the exclusion or removal of children from childcare programs.
Program guide
Read the Inclusive Child Care Program Guide to learn about roles and responsibilities, the intake process and the supports provided.
Supports provided
The ICC Program provides a range of short-term, intensive resources and supports that can be offered for up to 6 months. Supports include:
- on-site, evidence-based consultation to improve program quality and develop individualized strategies
- training and professional development to promote capacity building of inclusive practices
- access to funding for short-term engagement supports and resources for knowledge and skill development
The Inclusive Child Care Program is delivered by agencies with expertise on inclusive early learning and childcare practices. Inclusive Child Care agencies use evidence-based approaches like the Pyramid Model to promote children’s social and emotional development and help programs prevent and respond to challenging behaviors.
Eligibility
The Inclusive Child Care program is available to all licensed childcare programs (facility-based programs and family day home programs operating under a licensed agency).
