Human trafficking

Learn how we can work together to reduce the crime of human trafficking and help people at risk.

Introduction

Alberta has made a government-wide commitment to help protect and prevent at-risk individuals from being trafficked in Alberta.

Human trafficking is a serious, and often hidden, crime that happens in every community. The 3 main types of human trafficking are sexual exploitation, forced labour and trafficking of human organs or tissues. Traffickers use threats to exploit people of all ages, ethnicities and genders. The victims are forced to work or engage in sexual conduct against their will and they are trapped in a cycle of exploitation.
