Contribution of persons with disabilities to Alberta's economy – 2022
This paper assesses the contribution of persons with disabilities to Alberta’s gross domestic product by applying the 2021 Alberta Treasury Board and Finance input-output model. The analysis was conduced using the employment information obtained from the 2022 Canadian Survey on Disability, which is the latest survey data. This publication will be updated every 5 years following the release of the survey data.
Economic multipliers
Economic multipliers reflect the structure of the Alberta economy and industry linkages during the reference year. The below documents contain multipliers specific to various industries and commodities for 2 models:
- Open model – covers direct and indirect impacts
- Closed model – covers direct, indirect and induced impacts
Most recent economic multipliers – 2020
Recommendations regarding the 2020 input-output multipliers – Statistics Canada recommended that due to the COVID pandemic in 2020, the structure of the economy was significantly altered. The 2020 input-output multipliers and input-output models should be used for analysis of economic impacts in 2020. However, for economic impact analysis for more current periods, the 2019 input-output multipliers and input-output models may be considered as more reflective of current economic structures.
