Economic recovery grant funding

Grant funding to support economic recovery and jobs.

Overview

Additional grant funding is available to municipalities and Metis Settlements to support economic recovery and jobs.

Funding will be distributed based on existing grant programs.

Funding

Grants for specific municipal projects will be funded under:

  • the Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP)
  • the Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership
  • First Nations Water Tie-in Program

Funding amount

  • Approximately $200 million

Eligibility

Projects have been selected primarily from the program intakes that closed in fall 2019.

  • STIP

Proposed STIP projects are reviewed to ensure they meet program criteria and rated on a provincewide, competitive basis and evaluated on several factors.

For more information, see the Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program.

  • Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership

Proposed water grant projects are also reviewed to ensure they meet the program criteria.

Individuals and municipalities can apply for funding to support standalone facilities.

More information about funding eligibility is available on the Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership application page.

  • First Nations Water Tie-in Program

Alberta’s First Nations Regional Drinking Water Tie-In Program is a collaboration between First Nations, the Alberta government, municipalities or water commissions and the federal government.

The program supports projects that connect Indigenous communities to existing regional systems in Alberta. The projects provide First Nations with better access to clean drinking water.

Grants are given to local water commissions or water supply municipalities to extend their service to First Nations.
