If you find an error on an Alberta record, you may be able to correct it with an amendment.
Alberta vital statistics (event) records, such as birth, marriage, death and stillbirth, may be corrected with an amendment.

When amending a record, the following documentation is needed:
If an event happened outside Alberta, contact the jurisdiction where the event occurred to request an amendment.
There are restrictions respecting personal names when choosing, altering or correcting a legal name on Vital Statistics certificates and documents.
You must be eligible to amend a Vital Statistics record.
There may be a $20 government fee for an amendment, payable by cheque, money order or credit card.
If an amendment is requested within 90 days of a life event such as the birth of a baby or a death in the family there is no cost.
