Overview
We provide only general information about the collection, use and disclosure of personal information within private organizations, businesses and non-profit organizations.
Services not provided:
- Legal advice or interpretation of the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
- Advice on any actions that individuals or businesses should take regarding privacy concerns.
- Advice or interpretation of the Health Information Act.
- Investigations into privacy incidents.
Who to contact
Questions or concerns about how private organizations and businesses (including non-profit organizations engaging in a commercial activity or individuals who are acting in a commercial capacity such as landlords) handled your personal information must be directed to the privacy officer of the private organization where you have concerns. These include:
- concerns about how a private organization collected, used or disclosed your personal information
- your personal information was involved in a privacy incident
If you are not satisfied with the response received by the private organization, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
