About the Appeal Panels
Alberta’s social services appeal system is independent and committed to fair and unbiased decision-making.
Appeals are heard by independent panels made up of citizens and qualified professionals with the training to hear your appeal. Panels review the information provided by all parties and make decisions based on the legislation that applies to each case.
The type of decision being appealed determines which panel reviews your case:
The Appeals Secretariat
The Appeals Secretariat supports the appeal process and helps Albertans navigate it. The Secretariat:
- receives and processes appeals
- schedules hearings
- communicates with all parties throughout the process
- helps ensure participants have the information they need to take part
