Alberta Childcare Family Portal

Explore a pilot project that gives families a new, secure way to view childcare records online.

The Alberta Childcare Family Portal is a pilot project only available to select participants at this time.

Overview

Alberta is building a digital portal to connect families directly with the licensed childcare system. The Alberta Childcare Family Portal will give parents and guardians user-friendly, personalized access to their child’s enrollment records in one secure place.

The portal will also help modernize Alberta’s childcare system and make sure public funding is being used appropriately to reduce childcare fees for families.

Who it is for

The portal is still being tested and is only available by invitation to a small number of parents who are part of the pilot phase. Once that pilot is complete, the portal will be rolled out to all families using licensed childcare in Alberta. This includes families who do not receive any government funding to reduce their fees.

How it works

When your child is enrolled in a licensed daycare, preschool, out-of-school care or family day home program, your provider asks for your informed consent to collect specific information to create a childcare record. Your provider also enters these records into a provincial registration system, where they are kept confidential and secure.

Your child’s personal information is used to generate a Child Care Participant Number (CCPN) that is unique to your child, similar to an Alberta Healthcare Number. Government can use that number to check whether your provider’s funding claims are correct, even if you switch to a new childcare program.

That information includes:

  • your child’s full name
  • your child’s date of birth
  • your name and contact info, as their parent or guardian
  • enrolment details (start and end dates, your child’s age category and whether they are registered for full or part-time care)

Pilot program participation

At this time, you can only sign in if you are a participating parent. If your child attends one of the programs selected for the pilot, your provider will send you information about the portal and what to expect.

Beware of scams – Do not use any sign-in link that does not come directly from "[email protected]". The portal will not ask for your banking details.

Watch for an emailed invitation

If you are one of the pilot participants, you should receive an email from "[email protected]" inviting you to sign in and view your child’s record online.

A unique portal link is generated for every child in the system, so you might receive more than one email if you have multiple children attending programs that are participating in the pilot. You will need to open all the emails and follow the sign-in process for each child.

Sign in with your Alberta.ca ID

To keep all childcare records secure and confidential, parents and guardians must sign in with their Alberta.ca account. If you do not have one yet, the portal will ask you to create an Alberta.ca account before you continue. This step is necessary to keep your child’s information safe.

To make sure you are the only one who can see your child’s information, the first name, last name and email address you use when signing in to the portal with your Alberta.ca account must exactly match the contact information you gave your childcare provider when they registered your child for care.

For added security, you will also be asked to enter a date of birth for each of your children who attend licensed care.

Where to get support

The portal is in its pilot phase to make sure it is as user-friendly as possible before making it available to everyone.

Pilot participants should contact Childcare Connect for help accessing or navigating the portal:
