There are four wildfires of note in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta.
Edith Lake Wildfire (SWF076)
Wildfire SWF076 is located about 7 km north of Swan Hills near Edith Lake. This wildfire is currently classified as out of control and about 3,629 hectares in size.
Firefighters, helicopters, airtankers, and heavy equipment operators are working to suppress this wildfire by establishing a fire guard along the south, west and east side of the perimeter. Night vision equipped helicopters worked on containing the wildfire overnight.
Red Earth East Complex
A number of wildfires make up the Red Earth East Complex located near the community of Chipewyan Lake. Heavy equipment, crews, airtankers and helicopters are making good progress from the air and ground to suppress the wildfires in this complex.

Wildfire south of Winefred Lake (LWF090)
Wildfire LWF090 is located roughly 17 km southwest of Winefred and Grist Lakes. The wildfire is currently listed as out of control at 4,000 hectares.
Both Winefred and Grist Lakes have recreational fishing lodges present. There is oil and gas infrastructure located within 20 km of both the north and south perimeter of the wildfire.
Wildfire crews, airtankers, helicopters and heavy equipment are responding to this wildfire. Heavy equipment worked overnight on a fireguard toward the north perimeter of the wildfire. Airtankers continue to use retardant drops to build a containment line on the southeast side of the perimeter.
Wildfire west of Mercoal (EWF030)
Wildfire EWF030 is located 6 km west of Mercoal and 16 km southwest of Robb. The wildfire is currently classified as out of control and about 250 hectares in size.
Firefighters, helicopters and heavy equipment operators have made good progress on establishing containment lines and are continuing efforts to suppress this wildfire along the eastern side. This wildfire showed minimal growth overnight.
