There are three wildfires of note in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta.
Wildfire north of Swan Hills (SWF076)
Wildfire SWF076 is located about 8 km north of Swan Hills and 5 km west of highway 33. This wildfire is currently classified as out of control and about 2,260 hectares in size.
Firefighters, helicopters, airtankers, and heavy equipment operators are working to suppress this wildfire along the southern side. Night vision equipped helicopters worked on containing the wildfire overnight.
Wildfire west of Mercoal (EWF030)
Wildfire EWF030 is located 6 km west of Mercoal and 16 km southwest of Robb. The wildfire is currently classified as out of control and about 393 hectares in size.
Firefighters, helicopters and heavy equipment operators have made good progress on establishing containment lines and are continuing efforts to suppress this wildfire along the eastern side. Night vision equipped helicopters worked on containing the wildfire overnight.

Wildfire south of Winefred Lake (LWF090)
Wildfire LWF090 is located roughly 17 km southwest of Winefred and Grist Lakes. The wildfire is currently listed as out of control at 3,100 hectares.
Both Winefred and Grist Lakes have recreational fishing lodges present. There is oil and gas infrastructure located within 20 km of both the north and south perimeter of the wildfire.
Wildfire crews, aircraft and heavy equipment have been assigned to the wildfire.
