How to apply
There are 2 methods to apply for a grant to administer an estate.
- Online through the Surrogate Digital Service (SDS)
- Paper application using the GA (Grant Application) Forms , starting with the GA1: Grant Application
Individuals applying without a lawyer
The preferred method is online using the Surrogate Digital Service (SDS). You must be an Alberta resident and one of the applicants to use the online service. You may also apply by submitting a paper application.
Lawyers and Legal Assistants
Members of the Law Society of Alberta must use the Surrogate Digital Service (SDS) for all applications the service can process.
