Verification of identity

Applicants incorporated under provincial legislation must ensure they use their correct legal corporate name, which is used to verify your account. Client IDs are not provided to unincorporated partnerships. The department accepts registration by corporations incorporated under the following legislation:

  • Business Corporation Act
  • Societies Act
  • Companies Act
  • Municipal Government Act
  • Cooperatives Act

The Government of Alberta also accepts corporations that are incorporated nationally or in other provinces, provided the corporation is registered to conduct business in Alberta.

For verification of identity and residence, we require individuals to provide a digital copy (image or PDF) of a government-issued photo identification with the applicant’s name and address as provided on this form. The applicant’s name, address and the expiry date must be visible and legible. Please black out other information prior to submitting. We will accept photo identification up to three months after its expiry. Examples of government-issued photo identification include:

  • Driver’s licence
  • Passport identification page
  • Canadian military identification card
  • Federal citizenship card
  • Secure Certificate of Indian Status (secure status card)

If you do not have acceptable identification, please contact [email protected] and we will help you.
