Recent precipitation across the Slave Lake Forest Area has reduced the fire danger to low. Wildfires can still start in these conditions, so be cautious if you're spending time or working outdoors.
Wildfire situation
Thanks to the hard work of firefighters, all recent fires in the Slave Lake Forest Area have been extinguished, and there are no active wildfires in the area.
Since January 1, 2026, the Slave Lake Forest Area has responded to 61 wildfires and approximately 41 hectares have burned.

By adjusting settings and layers on the dashboard, you can also view forest area boundaries, active fire advisories, restrictions and bans, wildfire danger ratings and much more.
Smoke conditions
Smoky conditions are expected to continue in the area intermittently due to ongoing wildfire activity across Canada. FireSmoke Canada provides hourly forecasts of smoke concentrations and identifies the source wildfires. If you have smoke-related health concerns, call Health Link by dialing 811 or visit Alberta Health Services.
Report wildfires
If you see smoke in the forest or signs of wildfire, report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE (3473). Quick reporting helps wildfire crews respond faster and reduces the risk of wildfires spreading.
