Recent precipitation across the Slave Lake Forest Area has reduced the fire danger to low. Wildfires can still start in these conditions, so be cautious if you're spending time or working outdoors.
Wildfire situation
There is one active wildfire within the Slave Lake Forest Area.
SWF059 is under control at 3 hectares (ha) and is not expected to grow beyond its current size. The wildfire is located along the southeastern edge of McConachie Lake, which is approximately 60 kilometers north of Slave Lake. Firefighters and helicopters continue working toward full extinguishment of this fire.
The Slave Lake Forest Area has responded to 61 wildfires, which have burned approximately 41 ha, since January 1, 2026.

Smoke conditions
Smoky conditions are expected to continue in the area intermittently due to ongoing wildfire activity across Canada. Report wildfires
If you see smoke in the forest or signs of wildfire, report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE (3473). Quick reporting helps wildfire crews respond faster and reduces the risk of wildfires spreading.
