Seniors’ Week 2023

In 2023, Seniors’ Week was held June 5 to 11.

Seniors’ Week has been recognized since 1986 to celebrate and recognize the contributions seniors make to enhance the quality of life in Alberta. Seniors’ Week was inspired by the vision of the late Alice Modin. Over 37 years ago, Modin began a campaign to start a seniors’ day in Strathcona County that helped pave the way for this annual event.

Provincial Launch Host

Many communities throughout Alberta officially declare Seniors’ Week each year and organize local events to celebrate seniors’ contributions.  This year, the Town of Okotoks kicked off Seniors’ Week with an event on June 5, 2023. Throughout the day, over 500 attendees and volunteers of all ages came together to celebrate older adults, which is a testament to the community wide appreciation of older adults.
