The wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area is high. Above seasonal temperatures, strong winds and very dry vegetation are creating conditions where wildfires can start and spread easily. Until the area receives significant moisture, please use extra caution when working or recreating outdoors.
Wildfire situation
Over the past week, four new wildfires have been detected in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area. Wildfire crews responded quickly, and the two remaining active wildfires are classified as being held. Help prevent wildfires
Warm, windy conditions are expected over the next few days in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area. Combined with dry vegetation, these conditions will continue to increase the risk of wildfire, so please use extra caution when working or recreating outdoors.
If you’re out hunting, camping, or enjoying the forest, please keep fire safety top of mind. Here are some reminders:
- Never leave a campfire unattended.
- Always soak it, stir the ashes and soak it again until cool to the touch.
- Improperly extinguished or abandoned campfires can have serious consequences.

Fire advisory
A fire advisory remains in effect for the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area.
Under this advisory:
- Existing fire permits are valid, but extension requests may not be granted.
- New fire permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis, for essential burning only.
Safe campfires are allowed under the current fire advisory.
