The wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area remains high. Continued warm temperatures, strong winds and dry vegetation are contributing to the elevated risk. The wildfire danger will remain high until the area receives consistent and lasting moisture.
Wildfire situation
RWF080 is now estimated at 43 hectares (ha) following more accurate mapping. The wildfire is classified as being held, meaning with current weather conditions and resources, the wildfire is not anticipated to grow past existing boundaries. Located about 11 km southwest of the Peppers Lake Provincial Recreation Area, this wildfire is not threatening any communities or infrastructure.
RWF081 was detected earlier today and is estimated to be 2 ha in size. It is currently classified as out of control. Firefighters are working to contain the wildfire with support from helicopters. The wildfire is located approximately 4.5 km east of the Cartier Creek Provincial Recreation Area. Smoke may be visible in the area.

Fire advisory
A fire advisory remains in effect for the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area.
Under this advisory:
- Existing fire permits are valid, but extension requests may not be granted.
- New fire permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis, for essential burning only.
Safe campfires are allowed under the current fire advisory.
