The wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area is high. While winds are not expected to be as strong as those experienced today, gusty conditions remain in the forecast and temperatures are expected to stay seasonably warm over the coming days. Anyone spending time outdoors is reminded to use extreme caution when having a fire, never leave fires unattended and do your part to prevent human-caused wildfires.
Wildfire situation
RWF075 is now classified as being held. Firefighters will continue working to extinguish the wildfire, with crews and helicopters remaining active in the area. The public is asked to avoid the area and allow responders to work safely.
Throughout the day, the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area responded to several new wildfires. Thanks in large part to reporting from the public, firefighters were able to respond quickly and limit wildfire growth. Public reporting plays a critical role in wildfire response. When conditions include extremely dry vegetation and strong winds, early detection can make a significant difference, helping firefighters keep wildfires small and manageable.

Fire permit requirements
In the Forest Protection Area, all burning requires a fire permit and permit conditions must be followed at all times. When winds exceed 12 km/h, all burn piles must be fully extinguished. Forecast wind gusts exceeding 30 km/h in parts of the Forest Area have the potential to cause fires to become difficult to control. Anyone planning open burning should postpone those activities until conditions improve and ensure all burning remains in compliance with permit requirements.
