The wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area remains moderate. While parts of the area have received scattered rain, warm daytime temperatures and wind can quickly dry vegetation, increasing wildfire risk. Continue to use caution with any outdoor activity that could start a wildfire.
Wildfire situation
RWF036 remains classified as being held at approximately 957 hectares. This wildfire is located approximately 5 km northeast of James-Wilson Provincial Recreation Area, 30 km northwest of the Town of Sundre and 20 km southwest of Burnstick Lake. Firefighters and helicopters will remain active in the area until this wildfire is extinguished.

If travelling in the area, consider using alternate routes where possible. Recreationists are asked to avoid the area surrounding the wildfire and stay out of active work areas to support ongoing firefighting efforts and allow personnel to safely continue operations.

Drones near wildfires
Flying a drone near or over a wildfire is dangerous and illegal. It endangers the lives of wildfire personnel and can force firefighting aircraft to be grounded, resulting in delays to critical wildfire suppression efforts. Help keep our firefighters and air crews safe by giving them the space they need to do their jobs. See Transport Canada for more information on drone regulations.
