The wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area remains low. Recent widespread precipitation has reduced wildfire risk; however, some areas may have received less moisture than others. Some localized areas may still contain dry vegetation that could support fire activity. Although overall conditions have improved, continued caution is required. Any burning must be conducted responsibly, and all fires must be fully extinguished before leaving the area.
Celebrate responsibly with fireworks
As Canada day approaches, residents and visitors are reminded to celebrate responsibly, especially when using fireworks.
The use of fireworks within the Forest Protection Area (FPA) is prohibited year-round without written permission from a forest officer. Anyone planning to use fireworks within the FPA must obtain a permit by requesting online or calling the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area office at (403) 845-8250.
Smoke conditions
Smoky conditions are expected to intermittently continue in the area due to ongoing wildfire activity across Canada. FireSmoke Canada provides hourly forecasts of smoke concentrations and identifies the source wildfires. There are currently no wildfires in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area contributing to the smoke conditions. If you have smoke related health concerns, call Health Link by dialing 811 or visit Alberta Health Services.
