Wildfire update

Rocky Mountain House Forest Area - June 02, 2025

Moderate wildfire danger

The wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area is now moderate. Cooler temperatures and scattered rainfall across the area have allowed a brief reprieve from last week's hot and dry conditions.

Be cautious with outdoor fires. Ensure campfires are fully extinguished. Soak it, stir it and soak it again.

Fire advisory

A fire advisory remains in effect for the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area.

Under this fire advisory:

  • Existing fire permits remain valid but will not be extended.
  • New permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis for essential burning only.
  • Fireworks and exploding targets are prohibited.

Always use extra care and attention when enjoying a wood campfire. Never leave it unattended. When it’s time to put it out, remember to soak it, stir it, and soak it again to ensure it’s completely extinguished and safe.

The fire advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve or further escalation to a fire restriction is warranted.

Fire advisories, restrictions and bans are in place across the province. Please visit Alberta Fire Bans to see if you are impacted.

With clear clue skies and forest in the background, a wildland firefighter sprays water from a fire hose on to the front of a helicopter. After responding to multiple wildfires over the weekend, this helicopter has accumulated debris washed off during a refueling stop.
