The return of winter conditions and colder temperatures has provided some relief, and the wildfire danger in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area is now low.
Wildfire situation
RWF006 is classified as under control at approximately 250 hectares. This status reflects the efforts of firefighters and industry partners, supported by favourable weather conditions.
The Rocky Mountain House Forest Area has responded to eight wildfires since January 1, 2026.

Winter burning
Current weather conditions are generally supportive of burning; however, this does not eliminate risk and you should still take appropriate precautions. If you plan to conduct any burning, monitor conditions closely, ensure adequate control measures are in place and never leave a burn unattended.
