Training and workshops

Training and workshops are offered by the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee (OPGT).

Due to a large number of applicants, registration for the September 2026 capacity assessment course is now closed.

Applicants will be notified on the status of their registration prior to May 29, 2026.

We are unable to accept applications to join the waitlist at this time; however, we appreciate your interest. Additional training sessions will take place in 2027.

Important information about forms

  • Forms should be completed electronically whenever possible. Use blue ink if you must complete them by hand.
  • Print the forms and submit a hardcopy original – photocopies aren’t accepted.
  • Print all forms single-sided – the court won’t accept double-sided forms.

Competency requirements

You must immediately notify the Designated Capacity Assessor Program if any of the following occur:

  • you are charged with a criminal offence; or
  • your practice permit, as a regulated member of a health profession college, is suspended, cancelled, or becomes the subject of an investigation.

A designated capacity assessor must demonstrate their competency skills every 2 years to maintain their designation.
