Renew a driver training school licence

Overview

Driver training school licences must be renewed every 12 months.

You will receive a renewal notice about 3 months before your licence expires. To renew your licence, all requirements must be met.

What you need to renew

To renew a driver training school licence, you must submit all of the following:

• a completed Driver Training School Licence Application form
• a Driver Training Records Report for the previous year
  • As of January 2025, this is done through an online survey. 
  • Email us if you have not received the survey link.
• a signed Driver Training Code of Conduct and Ethics
• an updated Record of Licensed Instructors
• an updated Record of Driver Training Vehicles
• an updated list of all current owners/directors
• a copy of annual filing
• a current and signed copy of the Surety Bond or a bond continuation certificate
  • This does not apply to school boards, government agencies or schools that train drivers for no cost.
• a receipt for the licence renewal fee (if required) from an Alberta registry agent

Important to know

• A cancelled or suspended licence cannot be renewed.
• Your licence will not be renewed if you have unpaid fines or outstanding balances.
