Overview
Driver training school licences must be renewed every 12 months.
You will receive a renewal notice about 3 months before your licence expires. To renew your licence, all requirements must be met.
What you need to renew
To renew a driver training school licence, you must submit all of the following:
- a completed Driver Training School Licence Application form
- a Driver Training Records Report for the previous year
- As of January 2025, this is done through an online survey.
- Email us if you have not received the survey link.
- a signed Driver Training Code of Conduct and Ethics
- an updated Record of Licensed Instructors
- an updated Record of Driver Training Vehicles
- an updated list of all current owners/directors
- a copy of annual filing
- a current and signed copy of the Surety Bond or a bond continuation certificate
- This does not apply to school boards, government agencies or schools that train drivers for no cost.
- a receipt for the licence renewal fee (if required) from an Alberta registry agent

Important to know
- A cancelled or suspended licence cannot be renewed.
- Your licence will not be renewed if you have unpaid fines or outstanding balances.
