Refer-a-Foster Caregiver Program - Non-profit application

Form for non-profit organizations to fill out to confirm their eligibility for the Refer-a-Foster Caregiver Program.

  • Refer-a-Foster Caregiver Program - Non-profit application

Non-profit organizations must submit an application prior to making caregiver referrals.

Overview

Non-profit organizations that help refer new foster caregivers can earn a financial incentive when a new prospective caregiver home becomes fully licensed. Referring more foster caregivers helps children in government care continue receiving the high-quality, stable care they deserve.

How to apply

Non-profit organizations can review the eligibility criteria and fill out the form below. You don’t need a referral ready to join – you can apply to be an approved referral partner by selecting ‘yes’ on the pre-approval question. You must submit an additional form for each caregiver you refer that includes the name of the caregiver.

Once the caregiver you refer becomes fully licensed, you will receive the financial incentive.

Non-profit organization eligibility

To qualify for the referral incentive, non-profit organizations must meet the following criteria:

  • be a formally incorporated not-for-profit organization in good standing under provincial and/or federal legislation
  • be based in Alberta
  • focus on family, children and community well-being
  • demonstrate strong connections to communities underrepresented in the current foster caregiver pool, including immigrant-serving organizations, faith-based organizations, cultural associations and ethnocultural community groups
  • be known to the Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Status of Women
  • not currently receive funding through the Ministry of Children and Family Services to deliver foster care services or foster care recruitment activities

Form

  • Your application and supporting documents will be reviewed to ensure your organization meets the eligibility criteria.
  • Organizations will be contacted within 10 business days of submitting their application to clarify eligibility.
