The wildfire danger is expected to be low to moderate today and into the weekend. Anyone spending time outdoors is reminded to use extra caution when having a campfire, never leave fires unattended, and do your part to prevent human-caused wildfires.
Wildfire situation
There are currently no wildfires in the Lac La Biche Forest Area.
Since January 1, 2026, there have been 95 wildfires in the Lac La Biche Forest Area and approximately 2,394 hectares have burned.
Agricultural fire prevention
Agricultural equipment can inadvertently start a wildfire. If you are using farm equipment this wildfire season, take extra precautions by having firefighting equipment on hand. Read the FireSmart Farm and Acreage Guide to learn more about farm fire safety.
Fire permits are required
From March 1 to October 31, a fire permit is required for all burning activities in the Forest Protection Area (FPA), excluding campfires. The use of fireworks and exploding targets within the FPA is prohibited year-round without a permit. Permits are free and can be requested online or by calling the Lac La Biche Forest Area office at 780-623-5388. Always follow safe burning practices.
