The wildfire danger across the Lac La Biche Forest Area is currently low. Most of the area received rainfall over the weekend, which has helped reduce wildfire risk. However, caution is still needed outdoors, especially in drier areas where open flames can still ignite vegetation.

Since January 1, 2026 there have been 73 wildfires in the Lac La Biche Forest Area. There is 1 active wildfire burning in the Lac la Biche Forest Area, it remains under control.

Fire permits are required
From March 1 to October 31, a fire permit is required for all burning activities in the Forest Protection Area (FPA), excluding campfires. The use of fireworks and exploding targets within the FPA is prohibited year-round without a permit. Permits are free and can be requested online or by calling the Lac La Biche forest area office at 780-623-5388. Always follow safe burning practices.
Farming and agriculture
