The wildfire danger is now high in the Lac La Biche Forest Area. Warm daytime temperatures are expected to increase drying and the potential for wildfires to start and spread quickly. Localized wildfire danger may vary depending on vegetation and moisture conditions.
Agricultural fire prevention
As harvest approaches, producers are reminded to take precautions to prevent wildfires. Check equipment regularly for built-up debris, grass and dust, and remove any material that could ignite from hot machinery. Carry firefighting equipment when operating machinery in dry conditions and stop work if conditions become unsafe.
Wildfire situation
There are no active wildfires in the Lac La Biche Forest Area.
Since January 1, 2026, there have been 87 wildfires in the Lac La Biche Forest Area and approximately 2,393 hectares (ha) have burned.
Fire permits are required
From March 1 to October 31, a fire permit is required for all burning activities in the Forest Protection Area (FPA), excluding campfires. The use of fireworks and exploding targets within the FPA is prohibited year-round without a permit. Permits are free and can be requested online or by calling the Lac La Biche Forest Area office at 780-623-5388. Always follow safe burning practices.
