Wildfire situation
Medley River Wildfire (LWF132)
This wildfire is now classified as under control and is estimated at 4,471 hectares (ha) in size. Firefighters supported by helicopters continue to work on extinguishing this wildfire.
Pelican Wildfire Complex
The Pelican Wildfire Complex includes LWF131, LWF139 and LWF150.
- LWF150 is estimated at 663 ha and is now classified as being held. Firefighters continue working to strengthen containment lines.
- LWF139 is estimated at 225 ha and is under control.
- LWF131 is estimated at 29 ha and is under control.
LWF090
This wildfire is classified as being held. Some areas within the perimeter of this wildfire remain active and smoke may be visible. Further growth is not anticipated at this time.

There are currently 17 active wildfires burning in the Lac La Biche Forest Area, with 2 classified as being held and 15 classified as under control.
Since January 1, 2025, there have been 196 wildfires burning a total of 74,864 ha in the Lac La Biche Forest Area.

Fire Permits
During wildfire season, a fire permit is required in the Forest Protection Area for all burning except campfires. Permits help us track where burning projects are happening and outline the conditions for a safe burn. Farming and agricultural equipment
